Home > What's new in COMREC(c)
A new ability has been added to the Master Catalog Mailing List found at Menu:3.1. Now you may select from one to several years to generate unique (unduplicated) mailing labels, roster or export file.
Use the plus sign [+] to mark years to include. If you change your mind on a year just press the minus sign [-] to un-check it. Press the Escape key when you are finished selecting years. COMREC(c) will create a temporary file containing only unduplicated family records for the year(s) selected. Next you will be shown a a list of three options for output.
Roster of Names will ask you for a title. Type something that will help you remember the contents of the roster, then you can send it directly to the printer or to a file for later printing. A roster includes telephone numbers and is always sorted alphabetically by family name.
Laser Labels will first ask you about offsets then will ask if you want to group the labels by Zipcode (make the Post Office happy) or all names Alphabetically. If you answer "Z" for Zipcode sort you may enter a beginning and ending zipcode. Read the message on-screen for additional options. This may also be sent to the printer or to a file for later use.
Export label data is for those of you who may want to do further processing on your own. As in the laser labels, you will be asked if you want to group by zipcode or alpha. Probably just straight alpha then you can provide any additional processing in the target program. You may export the data either as a "fixed-width" SDF (Standard Data Format) file or as a CSV file suitable for import into an Excel spreadsheet. You will be asked for a suitable name for the export file. COMREC(c) will append the appropriate file extension to the file name before writing it to the Comrec folder. When finished you may copy the file to a floppy device. If you don't want to copy it to a floppy, just press Escape when asked.
