=================================================================== == STUREC(c) Windows XP v0.91 == == BUILD DATE: 06/26/2008 == =================================================================== *- 06/26/08 A correction to the data collection dialog for Special Education students. If you left the 'Parental Consent to Evaluate' and the 'Result of Initial IEP' empty, then STUREC(c) would put in 0 for the 'School Days Beyond Evaluation' field. Well, it seems that if the first two are empty then the days field must be a blank instead of a numeric number zero. The specs call for the days to be a number, only if the first two have data. So far this only affected one user, but now you know the rest of the story... We found the same problem with the Special Education Discipline. CEPI wants numbers if they apply, otherwise they want blank spaces. They have invented mulit-type variables. Addressed a potential misunderstanding with the Default Missing Data in the SRSD reporting section. *- 06/25/08 We stumbled upon a fairly unique situation some of you may encounter. A youngster with a GED is still a youngster! STUREC(c) would mis-identify him/her as a graduate and thus ineligible for services. Apparently this is not so, so the SRSD errorchecker in STUREC(c) has been modified. *- 06/24/08 One of our faithful users found an error we accidently introduced when we introduced a feature for another user. This error would display itself when you tried to print class lists from Menu:5.4. Sorry for the inconvenience. Added a new option to the SRSD EoY Status report found at Menu:7.5.1.7.1. You can request to print all records or only those who counted for FTE. If you want all records you may include the annualized FTE value. *- 06/20/08 Happy first day of summer! Now STUREC(c) will be a little more clever in deciding which of the three SRSD cycle information it shows you when you first bring up a student record. Added a new report to cross check grades assigned and posted to the transcript. Find this at Menu:7.5.3.1. Annualized Composite. A new option 4. X-Ref to Trans has been added. *- 06/19/08 Modified the behavior of the SRSD Default missing data for our friends in a PSA. If you are not a PSA, this update will not effect you. *- 06/17/08 Added a few more error-checks to the SRSD Create New Worktable. For best results, please make sure your STUREC(c) Help Flag is turned ON. Check this at Menu:7.3.9.6. Removed a few more of the bings and beeps that some of you found annoying. *- 06/16/08 Maintainence update. Corrected Create UIC Request file to look for the correct source file. *- 06/13/08 Fixed two little problems that only a few of you might experince with transcripts. For a student that drops, adds or transfers some of the same classes, now only the "best" grade will post on the transcript. For an active student, sometimes the Transcript Labels would say "Continued..." on the bottom, but there were no following labels and no totals. Fixed. *- 06/12/08 Added the ability to change screen mode from "Windowized" to "Full-Screen" size from within STUREC(c). Find this at Menu:7.3.9.10. This is like a toggle, flip the toggle and it will go to the way it wasn't. Try it, you can't hurt anything. Fixed a problem for those of you who must create separate SRSD export files for your constituent districts. *- 06/11/08 The nice folks at CEPI changed the name of SRSD Exit Code 13 from "Incarcerated" to "Adjudicated". You decide what it means, now STUREC(c) uses the new name for that code. *- 06/09/08 Sorry folks, but you really do need this update to complete your End of Year SRSD file. There was an error that could cause up to one third of your valid records from being included in the EOY export file. *- 06/05/08 You definitely need this update. The nice folks at CEPI slipped another 'gotcha' to the vendors on May 20th with the release of their new SRSD Errorcheck program. They changed a business rule regarding how the errorcheck handles empty FTE values for Field:18 and adults. Without this update, you will get Fatal errors from the errorcheck program if you have adults. We also added a new error trap for when you accidently give a student an exit date earlier than their enrollment date. *- 06/04/08 Modified the reporting date for the End of Year SRSD Reporting cycle 3. The old rules were the last Friday in June, the current rules call for June 30th -- most years. You need this update for an accurate SRSD file for EoY. *- 05/29/08 Sorry, with the introduction of the new option on the attendance sheets (05/27/08) we introduced a missing variable that presents itself when you try to print grade reporting sheets in Menu:3.1. Fixed! *- 05/27/08 Added another option to the print attendance input sheets (Menu:2.1.) Now on the 'Include' sub-menu you have new option 4. Attend/Absent. If you include this, the right-hand column will contain the number of DAYS attended and absent to the date of the report. Something like this: 024/003 which means the student was present 24 times and absent 3 times in the semester. *- 05/26/08 Maintenance update, fixed a spelling error, etc. *- 05/19/08 For you early birds who are already working on your setups for next year and don't like to have to do Alt-Y to change back to the current year when you start -- this update's for you. Now, during the months of May, June, July and August, when you start STUREC(c) you will have to select a year, and hopefully it will be the correct year, eh? *- 05/14/08 Opps! There is/was a missing page eject in the new special DS-4061 report introduced yesterday. Not any more... *- 05/13/08 Two new reports for you report fans. The first one is a perennial favorite, "Everybody who did not re-enroll for winter semester, please stand up." Find this one at Menu:7.5.3.8.2.Not Returned. The other new report is primarily for our friends who have a few Special Education students in their program. This goes along with a modification we made on 04/21/08. Now you may ask STUREC(c) to provide you with an advance copy of Page 1 of the DS-4061 Summary report. Page one lists your Special Ed counts. Find this at Menu:7.5.1.7.9.DS-4061 Pages 1..4. This can only be run after you create an SRSD export file. (7.5.1.3.) It works fine on Fall and Spring cycles, but we don't have any experience with End of Year yet. Remember, these reports are as accurate as your data! *- 05/07/08 Thanks to one of our eagle eyed friends we have 'accurized' the transcript where it refers to DAYS ATTENDED nn OF yy. The yy value could be up to 5 days more than actual in some circumstances. *- 05/06/08 If you have been experiencing printing problems, where your document simply would not print, please try this. Go to Menu:7.3.2.6. Test Output Method. You should see a red box that tells you that your currently selected output method is 0. Try method number 3 first. Follow the screen prompts to select a file to test then set the method that works in your envrironment. *- 05/02/08 If you printed a student's assessments from the Student Screen (AS.1.) the hours since last test was not accurate. Now it is. First notice about a possible new report. If you have Special Education students and would like to have STUREC(c) produce a DS-4061 report including page 1 - Special Education, please contact Dr. Bob. *- 05/01/08 Fixed an anomoly in the Print Class Attendance for a date range. The report would print the total class attended hours instead of the attended hours in the date range. Fixed. Also, you may now use a number to navigate in the Select by Class dialog. It always starts at the top of the list, but if you want to go directly to your ABE/ESL classes you may simply press "9" and you will be taken to the first class that begins with 9. All the other numbers work too. *- 04/30/08 Maintenence update, identified an unidentified variable. Cleaned up a few things with the new printer id method. *- 04/23/08 Check out a new report at Menu:7.5.1.7.8. Grad / Drop Worksheet. This will print a summary report with headcounts that will go towards your graduation and dropout rate. Only the State of Michigan can calculate those rates, but here is the basic data involved. This one only makes sense at the end of the year. This version of the report counts only those students reported with FTE value in Fall or Spring. To count all students reported, try Menu:7.5.3.7.5. Exit Status. *- 04/21/08 With the help of some of our friends, we have redesigned the way that you set your local Printer Connection. If you have more than one workstation from which you or others may access STUREC(c), it will now remember the printer selection you made for each workstation. We have done away with the old Set Local Printer and Set System Printer and Set Printer Connection. Now all you need do is, one time, select the printer you want your reports formatted for. Do this via Menu:7.3.2.1. Set Workstation Printer. You may define other printers. STUREC(c) will examine your workstation setup and determine the Default printer you have set in your Control Panel | Printers and Faxes folder. If you need to change connections, do it there. Even if you have not experienced any printer routing problems, you need to go into Menu:7.3.2.1. at least once and select the workstation printer of your choice. You will need to do this whenever you get a new workstation or a new printer that is different from your current printer. Also, we have modified the way the SRSD export data is created for Special Education students. Our tests have shown that students who are part Special Ed and part General Ed will go through the CEPI errorchecker without fatal errors -- if you have done your part! *- 04/18/08 Tidied up a possible missing vaiable associated with the new class time conflict notifier, and bullit-proofed the logic for comparing days along with time. Fixed an annoying mistake in the Percent Attendance report found at Menu:2.5.3. This mistake would sometimes start the report at the beginnig of the alphabet and other times start the report later in the sequence. For an individual user it would always start with the same wrong name, other users would start with other wrong names. Fixed now. *- 04/14/08 Added another new feature. When you are enrolling a student into classes STUREC(c) will now warn you if there may be a time confilct with another class. You may proceed anyway, because you are smarter than STUREC(c) -- or you may decide Oops, I don't want to do that! *- 04/08/08 Check out a new report at Menu:7.5.3.7.5. Exit Status Summary. This will print a listing of all headcounts that will go towards your graduation and dropout rate. Only the State of Michigan can calculate those rates, but here is the basic data involved. This one only makes sense at the end of the year. This version of the report counts all reported students without regard to FTE value. Another new report can be found at Menu:7.5.3.8. MAERS Follow-up. Right now you can choose Employed participants or Un-Employed at the start of the program. Look for updates to this one. *- Update 04/07/08 Added a method to calculate the date of Easter for any year in the range of 1583 to 4099 in the Americas. Find this at Menu:6.6.6.6. Date of Easter. *- Update 04/04/08 The new style MEAP test restults containers which are now called Michigan Merit Exam assessments, are available in the Student Screen, AS (ASsessment menu) item 2. *- Update 02/26/08 A special but necessary mod for one of our 'Special' friends. Or if your FISCAL AGENT CODE is not the same as your LEA, you need this update, otherwise not. *- Update 02/22/08 Convert back a little mod we made for one customer last year. If you are not that customer this update makes no change. *- Update 02/21/08 Added UIC to the Student Local ID listing found at Menu:6.6.7. Now you may print a single listing that will display a student's internal STUREC(c) id code, MAERS Customer number and the state issued UIC. *- Update 02/20/08 Fixed a minor problem with Menu:7.5.1.6.1.1. if you selected all year you would get the correct students, but they would have the incorrect status codes and funding on the report. *- Update 02/19/08 We discovered that if you use the class re-enroll function found at Menu:5.4.4. that the enrollment date for the new semester was not being properly recorded. This is fixed and we added a silent feature to the student recalculations to put this back into any records without an enrollment date. If you used the class re-enroll function this year, please perform student recalculation for "A" and it will be corrected. *- Update 02/13/08 A couple of mods for our new friends with virgin (brand new) installations. *- Update 02/12/08 Minor mod to the Print Transcript Labels found at Menu:3.5.4. so that you may be able to adjust the first line of printing to start one higher than previously. Enter "0" for the Top row offset. *- Update 02/08/08 Fixed an embarassing little carryover from the DOS version. There is no longer a limit of 4,096 elements for an array. This was only discovered accidently by one large customer who tried to run an SRSD error report for an unprepared second semester database. *- Update 02/07/08 For last year's End of Year SRSD run they introduced some new 'gotchas' to us vendors without much explanation. We thought we had it all figured out. It had to do with all the new Public Service Acadamies and making sure they had their own rules. Generally that wouldn't bother us, but we let through a little error that in some circumstances identify one of your neighboring districts as a PSA, when in fact they were not. Please make sure you install this update before starting your Spring SRSD activities. *- Update 02/06/08 Repaired a problem caused by the new compiler. It would report nLaserT and nLaserS as undeclared variables and not allow you to run certain laser label print routines. All fixed. *- Update 01/25/08 A minor mod to one of the MAERS Batch routines. If you don't batch - don't worry. If you do batch, don't worry because I will take care of it here. *- Update 01/20/08 Fixed an embarrasing little logic error that would cause certain reports to "skip" the first or first few names in a list. This is corrected. Now, you will get 'all the names fit to be printed.' *- Update 01/18/08 Added a new parameter for you when you create 'working' files for MAERS Batch: Ignore/not process "Out-of-Range" enrollment dates? Answering Yes will cause it to ignore records with enrollment dates outside of the date range you are working on. *- Update 01/17/08 Modified the behavior of the final grade input dialog in Menu:3.2. Input Grades. Now it will ask you for and exit date after your enter the grade instead of before. *- Update 01/14/08 A little modification to the Drop Codes used for youngsters and a modification to a report to take advantage of the drop mod. We have added code "20 Administrative Drop" for use when an academic advisor (or other human) may have made a mistake or otherwise wants to allow a student to drop a class without typical 'Drop' implications. The student is still 'Dropped', but it will not count against them. The other half is found in Menu:4. under SELECTIONS. Now the "Active/Inactive" option will querry you whether you want to ignore Administrative drops. In other words, treat an admin drop as no harm, no foul. There is also an "as of" date to consider. *- Update 01/08/08 One of our 'Eagle eyed' users noted that I had accidently left some 'debugging' stuff in the print attendance routines. Simply press Escape to get you out of the red box without incident, but this update fixes it. *- Update 01/07/08 Fixed a mis-named variable nXow that should be nRow found in the view student rosters at Menu:5.4.2. *- Update 01/04/08 Modified the OFFICIAL ASSESSMENT STATUS / NO EFL ADVANCE POSSIBLE report to extend the ABE category into the high school completion category. Also revised to look at your selected date range for the test dates as well as the hours. *- Update 12/20/07 Added a requested 'special treatment' to the Print Student Worksheets found in the FTE Sub-Menu. If you request to print the worksheets via Menu:8.9.3. Local Audit Checklist / Student Worksheets, you will be asked the additional question if you want to "Include ONLY students and classes with FTE value?" You may or may not find this helpful, but there it is. *- Update 12/07/07 Modified the personal attendance reports that allow selection by Monthly to be restricted to the currently selected Enrollment Period - or not, your choice. *- Update 12/06/07 Modified two schedule reports obtained from the Student Screen, CR. Print Administrative style now contains the FTE value and the Student Active now has the 'as of' date printed. Fixed a problem that would prevent you from selecting a Month on those reports where 'Monthly' was an option. Added the ability to Exclude students from Special Progress Review who have no active classes. *** SPECIAL NOTE: STUREC(c) cannot and never will be able to print to a "Host Based" printer. Our solution: buy a real printer. *- Update 12/03/07 Some folks objected to the use of "Effective" FTE as printed on the Class Attendance Reports for 'Maximum/Projected' hours. Now this report shows the ACTUAL Audited FTE value. Added a new flag (Menu:7.3.9.8.) so you can tell STUREC(c) if you want information from the most recent class setup carried forward when you create new classes for a new semester. *- Update 11/30/07 Made a little adjustment to the SEMAPHORE control routine that has caused a very few users with particularly restrictive local sucurity rules a headache. *- Update 11/27/07 Some additional 'tweaks' on the Enrollment Matrix Generator. Also updated the Error reporting program and corrected a typo in the Personal Progress report. *- Update 11/23/07 Modified the index scheme for displaying Official Assessments in date / sequence order. This is automatic, you do not need to do anything. *- Update 11/20/07 Upon Un-Exiting a student, STUREC(c) would mistakenly leave the "W" in place as the final grade. Now when you change your mind and Un-Exit a student, if the final grade is "W" it will be removed. If you have given the student any other final grade it will be left in the file. In regard to this, we added a miscellaneous 'Fixup' cleverly named Fix misplaced "W"s. Find this at Menu:5.8.4.4. *- Update 11/16/07 Added to the Level 2 password the ability to enter OSS id #. *- Update 11/14/07 Through a mistake on my part, you would not be able to actually enter grades via the student data screen. This is corrected. Also fixed an undefined variable in Menu:7.5.2.1. *- Update 11/13/07 A faithful user requested the ability to lookup a student by the STUREC(c) Internal ID Code. Read the message box at the bottom of the screen and you will notice a new option: when you are searching for a student. Fixed a missing variable "lTerm" buried in the Honor Rolls. *- Update 11/12/07 The Emergency Student List found at Menu:5.6. would throw a couple errors. Not any more... *- Update 11/09/07 Found an undefined variable "Up" which should be "K_UP". These computers sure are fussy! *- Update 11/08/07 In the SRSD panel, Program Participation I, item 5. Gifted & Talented has been changed to Advanced and Accelerated. Same thing by a different name. If you mark a student with this, you must have an "Advanced and Accelerated" program. *- Update 11/07/07 The Students Ready for Testing report found at Men:6.3. was showing all the classes the student ever took, all the way back to their original enrollment. Now it only shows the classes currently enrolled. Modified the spelling of the word EXLPANATION to something more familiar; EXPLANATION. *- Update 11/06/07 Made sure that Learning Lab classes are not included in a credit analysis if you ask to include current classes. *- Update 11/01/07 Returned the ability to Add/Edit course descriptions in the Master Course Catalog by pressing the F2 key. *- Update 10/30/07 If you have some students that were reported in last year's End of Year SRSD file with the exit code of "19 Expected to Continue", but they did not show up this fall, you need to report them with an Exit Code and date. This update will not reject students with Zero Days Enrolled if they have an exit code and date. *- Update 10/26/07 For any of you who may have experienced printing issues, please try this update. After you install, go to Menu:7.3.2.3. Printer Connection. Tell STUREC(c) Yes, you would like to select a different Connection -- then select the appropriate connection and answer Yes to set as the default. This is to force STUREC(c) to write it down and remember the connection. You should now be able to print to a File or directly to the printer. If you print to a file, you should be able to hit "P" and send it to the printer. If, after experimenting with various combinations of Printer Connections and turning the External Interface on or off, you still are having problems, contact Dr. Bob to arrange for some special testing. We are using Windows XP and Windows 2000 desktops against a Novell 5 back-end and all of the various combinations work here. *- Update 10/22/07 Ateendance lists by "Class List" code are now working correctly. Also, for those of you using the External Interface / DosPrinter, we have move the .ini file from the network to the local drive. If this means nothing to you, don't worry. If you have been having problems with the External Interface on a network, this should correct it. *- Update 10/22/07 Added the ability to report students who have taken one or more GED tests in a date range even if they are not currently enrolled. *- Update 10/19/07 Made an adjustment to Menu:6.2. Official Assessments, now it will ask you if you want to include students who have not been tested at all. Adjustment to Menu:2.9. Special Progress Review, it will now allow you to pick Learning Labs as well as academic components, or mix and match whether you are a teacher or not. Adjustment to the Days Attended / Days Enrolled calculations in the SRSD process when a student may have a class that started after the first week of school. Also the new item 6 in the Participation II field relating to pupils counted via the 10/30 day rule is fully functional. *- Update 10/16/07 Made a little modification for our friends with limited access to their own devices. If you have received an error when trying to print, either to a file or directly to the printer, but not both, or when trying to copy a backup archive to a floppy drive, this update may help you. *- Update 10/15/07 There is more flexibility for you in preparing your SRSD file. Menu:7.5.1. Create New Worktable, a new question asking if you want to Include Zero FTE students in your file. Answer yes or no. Previously the default was to NOT include zero FTE students in the fall or spring unless they were here before and reported with a "19 Expected to Continue" and now you had an exit code and date. Ask your boss! *- Update 10/12/07 Added a new utility to the SRSD Default Missing Data routine. For those of you who forgot that you cannot code youngsters as grade Level 13 this year, you now can have STUREC(c) calculate the Credit earned equivalent grade level, or if no credits or the gradset is bogus the Age appropriate grade level with be calculated. Find this at Menu:7.5.1.9. A question will pop up after you select the reporting cycle. Of course, you may override this calculation for specific cases in the SR panel. Added some additional errorchecking to the SRSD process for PSA's. We discovered some "undocumented" error conditions thrown by the CEPI errorchecker. This only affects PSA's. *- Update 10/10/07 Minor maintenence and a new report at Menu:7.5.6. Place of Birth reporter. Pretty intuitive, you can figure it out. It is a great tool to help you clean up your data as well as being useful information. *- Update 10/05/07 Fixed an inconvenient annoyance in the calendar. First, it may not let you escape from entering an event, and if it did, it would show you the wrong message at the bottom of the screen. *- Update 10/02/07 Fixed an error that would prevent you from combining files to create a 'Combined DS-4061' file. (Menu:8.10) *- Update 09/27/07 *New Feature* Now you may record TABE Locator and CASAS Apprasial tests in the Official Assessment screen. Use "L" to indicate a Locator and "A" to indicate an. Pretty clever, eh? At this time the nice folks in Lansing have not provided a score to EFL cross-reference lookup table, so you are on your own in that respect. The screen skips over Form Number because there is no validation at this time anyway. A little maintenance update dealing with the student discipline screen. Repaired a missing variable in the Social Services screen. *- Update 09/26/07 Added the ability to pull a class attendance report for a selected individual date. Additionaly, if you select a single date you may select an attendance Symbol to 'hit' on. Example, you only want the students with an excuZed "Z" symbol on that date. Leave the target symbol blank to get everyone. *- Update 09/21/07 Official release of STUREC(c) for Windows XP. This will not run on Windows 98. *- Update 09/19/07 Corrected an anomaly that would trap you in the Attendance Input screen if the last student on the list had an asterisk or all equal signs in the attendance array. *- Update 09/18/07 Added test form numbers 51..56 for ESL Listening test LS. *- Update 09/17/07 Added the ability to add or edit Official Assessments to the security level 2 passwords. Also cleaned up the process to create new passwords of any security level. Also cleaned up a little mess if you entered an incorrect value for an assessment module name. *- Update 09/13/07 Fixed a little annoyance with a disappearing LEA number in the SR panel. *- Update 09/11/07 Welcome to STUREC(c) for Windows XP. This version has all of the capability of your old DOS Version 6.96 and adds speed and a few 'Windows only' features. You may export data files directly to Excell, you may open data files or spreadsheets from within STUREC(c). There are some simple utilities to interrorgate your system, and as they say, much more. Most operations will run from four to ten times faster than the DOS based version. This version has its own built in backup compressor that is fully compliant with PkZip and WinZip. * Downloading this update, or any available update between 08/01/07 and 07/31/08, will begin the 2007-08 license cycle. Your district will be billed for the annual license fee. If you are required to first obtain a PO, please contact your business office. You may download and use both Sr04 (Windows) and Sr03 (DOS) for the same license fee -- one fee covers both products. The DOS version will not be supported after June 30, 2008. =================================================================== ----> If you are not using the compressed backup method offered <-- ----> through STUREC(c), every day, please don't call us with <-- ----> any questions related to data corruption!
